August 24, 2020 at 2:25 pm in reply to: Premiere Project Has Bad In/Out Times for BRAW FilesThanks, Antoine. It sounds exactly like number one. Interesting that the bad ones are all on one drive versus the other, but I’m going to try everything they describe in the article. Hopefully I get a solution on this.

November 16, 2013 at 12:17 am in reply to: Need a good English to Spanish video translator service in Chicago, tomorrow. Any Suggestions? What you’re describing would be a live interpreter. It’s very short notice, but I would contact David Medrano at https://www.interprenet.net. You can mention that I referred you. I don’t want to write his e-mail address in this post, but it’s his first name @ his obvious company e-mail address. He is Spanish and has a network of interpreters. Again, short notice on a Friday night, but who knows?
I can tell you if you can’t get ahold of him, you want to get someone who is an interpreter versus a translator for this. If David can’t help you, I’d call up the Instituto Cervantes in Chicago. They have several people there who are usually Spanish and do this kind of live translation at events (312) 335-1996. They are basically the Spanish government’s language schools worldwide.

My company does all sorts of foreign language video work, but I’m getting the sense you’re looking for a live interpreter versus a translator. If so I have someone I can recommend to you. But it is short notice so I don’t know how available they would be.

November 1, 2013 at 1:35 am in reply to: Can’t Get Multi Channel Audio to Export to QuickTimeI forgot to mention that I import these as a ProRes file with stereo and M&E and then 5.1 channels as separate mono files.
Thanks

Yes and no. What I’ve discovered is that Encore is very finicky about the types of files it will take. You have to use Premiere’s export to Encore function to do the H.264 mpeg4 file type. This is an excellent encoder which is basically Main Concept’s encoder.
The only other software I found that would create a file that could be opened as that type was Sorenson Squeeze and Telestream Episode, but Encore wants to transcode both and can’t read the proper aspect ratio from the file from Sorenson. Make sure you’ve downloaded the latest Encore and Premiere updates as a new once came out on the sixth. Procoder’s H.264 file is useless for this.
It will take an HD MPEG2 from Sorenson and recognize it properly and not transcode it if you should need that.

Yes, it’s on a Mac.

Okay, I’ve done some more experimenting and it seems that Sorenson has some problem creating files that are properly read by Encore for this file type. So that makes Sorenson’s files useless and Procoder’s useless. So far I’m 0 for 2. But I did get a file created with main concept’s encoder to work fine, except there is a pilaring effect on the sides of the screen in Encore.
I’m thinking that this is either normal or an adjustment needs to be made in my file size to compensate for square/non-square pixel conversion. Any idea on that?
I have communicated with Sorenson’s team and told them that they should talk to Adobe’s team and figure out a fix for an upcoming update.

Yeah, I’ve been through tech support from GV and they take a while to call you back, but they’re very good. I think the programers didn’t really know what they were doing when they set this all up. Hopefully they’ll come out with a fix. Really stupid from what’s been an excellent program.
And Sorenson isn’t too much better so far. I cannot figure out if it’s a problem on their part or Encore. I tried what you said creating a new timeline and it didn’t work. I cannot figure out what to do. When I open it in my MPEG reader it shows as 16:9. It’s like there’s a coding issue between the two programs.
What do you suggest encoding H.264 files in that will be workable in Encore? I’m going to try x264. I know main concept has a stand-alone encoder, but it’s expensive.
Thanks,
Alex
