    Hi Ben

Motion can control the speed. It’s in the settings function on the animation you create. I have changed the text animation speed in motion on a recent project. I’d like to help you more; unfortunately, I’m out of state and won’t be in close proximity until Thursday. Email me if you’d like help.

When you have the text box selected there should be a window tab ‘control’ in order to do this. I recently did a video with text blocks that faded in over video. I actually went to Motion and “animated” the text to my liking with a transparent background. I found that to be the best way to control the text’s speed and have consistent control.

Do you get an error message that pops up when your playback flickers?

If you do, you may have a dropped frame issue. I’ve had that message pop up once during jumpy playback and it was a dropped frame issue. If that’s what you’re seeing you could turn it off.
