More than likely a local system problem, i.e. nothing to do with Creative Cow (я открываю письма на разных языках без проблем на моем компе, в т.ч. от Creative Cow).
Try opening that email in a different email client – better yet, in a browser if possible.

With “just” 840MB/s and 100K IOPS, it really shouldn’t be expensive – at least no more expensive than current SSD prices of about $1 per GB. I am wondering though if simply striping two decent SSDs won’t be about as fast – or faster.
Now this dude (Samsung XS1715 NVMe), with 3GB/s transfers and 740K IOPS, is probably seriously out of my price range. Any guesses how much will this one cost? (“if you have to ask, you can’t afford it”? :))

Unlike Windows Server OS editions, Win8 doesn’t support NIC teaming or MPIO, AFAIK.

A client of mine in Los Angeles runs a 10GbE NAS from COTS components using xServe (for the NAS OS part of it), ProAvio DAS, NetGear 10GbE switch and Small-Tree 10GbE cards. Is this something you might be interested in hearing about, or would you prefer to have a single supplier solution?

If I am not mistaken, Resolve only works with one stream at a time? So we’re looking at one uncompressed QT stream per user, or two of any of the other ones, correct?
What’s the bitrate and resolution of the uncompressed QT stream?

Could you elaborate on that Resolve codec? I think Resolve works with a number of codecs but likes to work with raw still frame ones like DPX and CinemaDNG? That might be taxing for most shared storage solutions.

There isn’t a single formula although many SSD makers provide utilities producing “wear” indicators and allowing to customize SSD brains to specific tasks (over-provisioning, scheduled trimming, etc.).
SSDs, like regular platter drives, suffer from both catastrophic (sudden) failures and continuous wear, some less, some more.
That’s one of the reasons for enterprise class SSDs, especially Intel DC S3700 series which are far from being the fastest but do focus on consistency of performance – and reliability.
Bottom lines:
– SSDs die and lose data much like spinning drives do, just differently
– SSD have (much) greater non-op shelf life, but do suffer from wear depending on: flash memory type, controller, configuration, type of use
– best use of SSD is caching, not archival. For archival, it’s still tapes, mirrored and parity RAID (usually with at least three copies of data), WORM devices.Disclaimer: most of this info comes from reading tech articles and not from 1st hand experience, so take it with a grain of salt.

It depends how much of your editing relies on GPU acceleration; GTX-680 Mac Edition will be a better option performance-wise (and value-wise), regardless.

IS316JS is quiet. Seriously. A good client of mine had two of those, likes them, and he is sensitive to noise.
