[Juan Salvo] “Do you have any “/ <>~%^*+=}{][/€£¥•@”‘ in the file names? Do you have a slug clip in the sequence?”

I had a problem file on my timeline that resolve didn’t seem to like from the XML. Therefore I disabled it and replaced it with another file on the track above. I suppose I should completely delete the problem file?

Ps. Big fan of your coloristos podcasts 🙂

[John Sellars] “Also check to make sure there are no spaces (%) in the filenames.”

There doesn’t seem to be any spaces in any of the file names.

[Joseph Owens] “How does it crash? Does it freeze up or exit?”

Resolve just completely exits. No freezing whatsoever. There also doesn’t seem to be any HTML or directory/path characters etc. What’s strange is that rendering as a single clip seems fine. The problem is in source mode.

[Sascha Haber] “Well, dont trust what you read in the internet 🙂
I love it, especially on the system disk.”

Sorry to keep bugging, but would iDefrag actually get me back approx. 100mbs of speed? sounds like I’d be dreaming… haha.

Also whats really confusing me, is why my two volumes set at RAID5 coming from the exact same hardware is now functioning different speeds.. technically they should be running at identical speeds like before. Where did I go wrong and what am I missing??

    Thanks again.

    Hey Sascha,

It’s really strange… I did another test on my Mac HD volume at RAID5 and was getting almost 300mbs as opposed to my other volume (currently 150mbs. 260mbs before….). Im really confused…

I have 4 WD black caviar HDs (1TB each)

By the way does iDefrag actually work and would it help with my case? Iv’e read reviews that say it doesn’t do very much..

    Thanks

    Alex.

[Marcus Smith] “What version premiere are u running?”

    Hey Marcus,

    Thanks for the reply.

They are currently using 5.5 but considering an upgrade to 6. Should I advise anything in particular?

    Alex.

  • Thanks Sascha,

Just upgraded from resolve 8.1.1 to 8.2.1 and kept the rest of the config the same, and everything seems fine at the moment. If any issues turn up I’ll let you guys know.

    Regards

    Alex.
