We always either run a copy to digi first and then do vhs/dvd copies from that with the digi vtr character display on or run it direct through the vtr and hit the space bar in time with the tc start.

We’ve never found another way of doing it I’m afraid and we’re running M100i and HD suites.

    mad…

    Thanks for that, that’s interesting.

I’ve had the problem before and got round it again this time by redigitising my master on an older m100i suite.

    Thanks again

    hmmm…

thanks for replying but it just makes me jealous!

ours must be broken then, I will get in touch with our supplier and see if it’s a known glitch in the batch.

    thanks again

Fixed it by rendering using video compressor in AE. Footage was only photoshop graphics which i made myself.

It’s on the monitor too, even when you just play back using quicktime.

I’ve got round the problem by rendering it using the Media 100 codec but now i’ve got a bad video frame error (probably a slow or full drive) so I’ll have to try again i think, i’ll give those settings a go.

Unfotunately I can’t post a screen shot as the series hasn’t been aired yet but the black spot looks like an underscore and appears only on one field at a time (and i’ve only got one incidence in a 30 second clip – still a broadcast failure though)

    thanks for the help

    Alex.

My mistake – it’s an AE problem

I’ve never cut anything at online first – the media takes up too much space. Even with 2 terrabit drives we don’t online all our media for broadcast programming – when you’ve got a hundred rushes and 35 programmes to cut there isn’t really room.

Thanks for the info though, it answers my question.
