I truly hope that Panasonic lives to it’s motto:
    IDEAS FOR LIFE…
    And keep upgrading.
This is my first HD camera and I am learning that the missing features are easy to overlook given the clarity and quality of the footage.
Thank you for the article, I will hope that if you hear any news, keep me informed, I will do the same, you know, the cyberspace is pretty broad and it’s hard to cover it all without help.
    Greetings!

    Alexander

    Thank you Peter.
I guess that I will have to wait and pray for Panasonic to take care themselves of the hacking and produce an upgrade to help us monitor out taping.
Although is not completely necessary, it would be great to have.
    Thank you

    Dear colleagues,
It worked, TOAST converted the video files from the GH1 into .mov and even DV files ready for FCP.
    Thank you!

    Hello Martti,
    Thank you for your response.
I would like to try TOAST as well.
    I am in a G5, not intel.
    I have TOAST.
would it be too much to ask you to guide me through the process?
I am willing to learn, since I have not been able to ingest the files from my GH1 other than demo programs, marred with limitations and flaws.
    I thank you in advance!

    Thank you Itamar.
I am now to pick your brains:
Using the log&trans tool, do I connect the camera to the USB and ingest from there?
Is it possible for you to guide me in the process?
Thank you in advance for your time!

    Update:
I just tried to ingest the MTS files using the log&transf tool and when the camera is connected, I get a message saying that the AVCHD media is unsupported on PowerPC base hardware.
    I am on a G5, not intel.
I will explore your other option.
    Thanks

I forget to mention that I have used:
    MTS Converter
    Video Pier
    ISkySoft

The best result was with Video pier, but crashes
Second in quality was ISkysoft, not perfect but no crashes
Third MTS Converter, not very good and slow to convert.

    Thank you!

    Hello,
    thank you for your input.
I tried your suggestion, but to my dismay, it doesn’t work.
It gives me an error, that says:
“File open error: unrecognized file type”

Then it gives me option to Open anyway or OK

    Thank you!

    Dear Noah,
Thank you very much for your input, and truly, I was considering doing just that.
I was wondering why that was happening and I kept trying over and over.

    Thank you!
    I will use FCP.
