Hi again! So I answered your questions below.
“I really wouldn’t reinstall FCP. There is definitely an anamorphic flag in the footage. I don’t know if that info is stored on tape from a DVX100, it really wouldn’t surprise me.”
It’s strange though because I don’t even think that the camera shoots in 16×9.
“If you bring that clip into FCP, and look at it, is the canvas 16:9 or 4:3?”
it is 4:3
“If you load it into the viewer, which ratio is it?”
4:3
“Look at the clip in the browser in list view, is the anamorphic box checked?”
No
“What’s listed under aspect ratio?”
720 x 480/ 29.97 fps
“There is something that is missing from the workflow here. Try capturing one clip choosing the DV NTSC setup and tell me what happens.”
I have been using DV NTSC and it’s all of a sudden that this is going on. About a month ago was the last time I imported some of the exact same footage – and it’s Quicktime files play just fine….
Arrrggg…. OH… AND…. I exported a QT file from the timeline and opened it up in QT and it’s fine. WTF???? What to do?
Thanks again!
