One last question. Not sure if it really matters on this setting.

The AE project is set to 16bpc. The monitor is set to display at 8bpc. There is no 16bpc setting for it. It goest from 8,10 and 12. Does that matter when displaying a 16bpc AE project on a display setting at 8bpc?

Ok. That doesn’t entirely answer my question.
It is already configured to be a secondary monitor. Curious about setting up the resolution for this monitor to be 1080p or 4k as a secondary monitor and if it will effect the display as a preview monitor for editing.

Just to clarify. I really don’t want to export anything until the end of the project. The original workflow was set up in a way where we had to export.
Also, only reason we used proxy files was because the project needed to be portable and able to be edited on a not so powerful laptop. It was about editing and arranging and not the absolute final quality yet.

So after doing some testing I believe I found a possible solution.

All the edits in the main project where the SD proxy files were used, I am going to import via dynamic link the AE comps (keyed/color corrected) that are identical to the SD proxy files. I would then go to each sequence and replace each clip with the AE comp.

NOW… the challenging part. Making sure they are all correctly timed. Follow the example below on how I will be able to do this.

Sequence has “Clip001” starting around 1:00 minute into the source clip from the bin.
AE Comp “Clip001” is imported via dynamic link.
I go to the sequence, highlight the seqment where “Clip001” is on the timeline, double click the clip to load it into the Source Monitor. It shows the In and Out points. Notate those points. I then load the AE clip into the source monitor and go to the In Point. Going back to the sequence and selecting “Clip001” I bring up the submenu and select “Replace With Clip.” From that I choose “From Source Monitor, Match Frame.” It matches the In Point and replaces it with the AE version with no timing issues.

Ok. Again finally got some time to work on this project. I appreciate your file working on these shots.
Unfortunately I couldn’t really use it.

The main one I am really having issue with is Video 002 listed from above.

He has a reflection on top of his head and also has a glow around him that I tried everything to get rid of.
Tried a few different things to fix that and rendered out sample of it. I found that there is now a glow or whatever under his arms between his torso and arms.

Here is the sample of what I rendered. The background is pretty close to what will be used in the final output of this project.

I am very serious what I said I will pay someone to have a clean key on this particular video clip.
If you decide to tackle this and use anything outside of the standard Keylight or RedGiant plugins, I will buy it to use. I just have to know that it is a very good clean key.

Ok.

I had to take some time away from the project. I am now back on it. I tried a number of different techniques to try to key the difficult ones. I am at a loss.
I don’t have near the experience in keying as most of you out there and I am sure it would take somebody out there not very long to get it done.
I am at the point where I am willing to pay someone to key the difficult ones I have come across.

The first one being the one I put in the original post as the example. I have a few more as well with similar problems.

ANYONE… ? I AM BEGGING!! PLEAAAASEEEEE!!! Seriously I will pay to get it done! (Be reasonable with price.)

Just key it and send me the AE Project so I can import the settings for Keylight or whatever plugin you use. If I don’t have the plugin, I will buy it.

Hi Guys.

Yeah, still working on this project. Been trying to watch tutorials and taking in your advice and trying different things. The multi-layer keying using the matte as the upper layer didn’t solve the main issue I was having.

One thing I am trying is using the Red Giant Primatte Keyer. It is pretty powerful and has a lot of things built in that you would have to separately like light wrap.
One thing I found that was cool and very useful is using obsolete Color Key with Simple Choker to create an easy dynamic garbage matte.

But as always it completely depends on the shot. This is quite the challenge. Still having issue trying to get rid of the glow on a few of them. And there is one girl that has light brown hair and the format it was shot on is a compressed MP4 video file. Not easy. Might just post examples of that here to get some insight on how I can get a good clean key on that one.

I will check out that tutorial. I do want to get better at perfecting keying. Our workflow wouldn’t work with using Premiere for keying, so I will have to use After Effects for this

I checked out the screen equalizer and downloaded your sample project. I still saw a line glow around her left arm. I am not sure if the screen equalizer would help in this but it is a very cool plugin! It could take me just using it more and seeing how to get this to work.

I really wish I could just build a new computer. I do know that the new Premiere CC is an improvement. Curious if I can install the demo while I still have CS6 installed? Would it read the same plugins?

Also I did some testing and found that the CPU is running hot. Perhaps if I get a liquid cooler that would help as well.

I just want to be able to edit fairly smooth until we can afford build a new computer. I do realize that the MPE doesn’t help in all areas but it would help in probably the most important at the moment for us. Plus I can carry that new video card to a new machine when we build one.

One more question regarding optimum configurations. If I got a small SSD and just used it as a dedicated drive for the Scratch Disks and Media Cache Files for After Effects and Premiere and uncheck the save media cache files next to the originals when possible… would that help in performance?
