  • Page 167 of the manual should help you get things sorted out.

“Accordingly, there is a Colorspace setting in the
Master Project Settings panel of the Project Settings (in the Video Monitoring section).”

  • Have you checked your video/data level setting in Resolve?

@Justin Crowell : 2GB should be plenty fine for HD media. If you’re on a budget you could hunt down a GTX570 on eBay, but I’m guessing that since you’re considering the 680 it isn’t. 😉

If there’s no need to write out prores media you could probably build/buy a Windows rig s lot cheaper and more powerful than an iMac.

    +1 Sapphire!

Wondering… Are there any Open-source/free OFX plugins out there? Maybe with such a large user base there will be a huge increase in development of OFX plugins for resolve.

There are definitely advantages to working raw, but in your case I doubt it would be that beneficial. Unless you’re willing to invest money in new hardware, you should gear your approach to the hardware you do have. Assuming you have a disk array capable of storing and playing back uncompressed HD, dpx’s may be the more workable solution. Definitely do some testing to see what kind of performance you get with each option and gear your approach accordingly.

Here’s a great article for you:

Yep (As far as I know), but if you’re only delivering HD, it shouldn’t be necessary. You could always render out log HD dpx’s to grade off of, but you’ll loose raw controls…

You won’t get realtime 4K debayer. Are you providing a 4K delivery? Play around with a source file as a test and lower the debayer to half or quarter res with your timeline set to HD to see where you cap out. The quadro 4000 will be a rather weak link the the chain when it comes to how much color you can throw at the picture too.

Sounds like the laptop should suffice for basic resolve lite duties/learning.

@Joseph: I also had resolve installed on an old Sony laptop that barely met the minimum requirements… 8gb GT425M 1st gen i7. Would play back HD media fine, but the minute I thew a color correction at it, it would chug… Just bought a new top of the line Lenovo y500 with dual GT650’s and it’s actually quite workable… Except for monitoring. Might try a USB Intensity at it just for fun… 🙂
