    Hello Filip

Sorry, I didn’t explain that part did I?

I was thinking that if I used and expression to create a smooth mathematical path maybe that would work if I could get the timing right. Can’t expressions be used that way?

I guess I will just have to hand track it. :/

    Hello

    And Thanks! 🙂

I am actually planning another reshoot of the green screen. I have enough screens to cover the entire camera view and think that if I do this I will alleviate some of the problems I am having with a clean key and artifacts due to zooming the footage.

One of the reasons I used time remap is to get rid of the “gaps” between people moving in front of the camera. But I also sped up the people moving across and I think that is part of the problem. I am going to be reworking my time remap.

Ah… frame blending. Hadn’t thought of that.

I tried cc time blend, but that was on the first shoot and it didn’t look good. Because I didn’t get results on the first shoot I avoided it on the reshoot. I will try it again after we get the wider green screen done.

I was thinking that rendering out the key would be a good idea. Just thought I could get it all in one go.

Do you have any thoughts about using the 60 frames per second feature on the camera? Would that help in the final outcome? I figure more frames would smooth the motion, would this be a good assumption?

    Thanks Again… ! 🙂

First I want to thank you for being “honest”. Maddening as it is…

“Best is to hire someone to help you out.”

not to sound harsh, but that would be great, except for the fact that this project is for a non profit organization, and I have volunteered to do this, and I have no budget whatsoever except that which I spend out of my own pocket. Every one else involved is also volunteering in the creation of this “music video”.

I am not looking for “Hollywood” quality here, just a little advise on how I could do something’s better to increase the quality of my work. Everyone starts somewhere.

Is there anything that you would suggest so that when I reshoot the green screen part I might have a better key? Should the screen just hang or should I angle it to the bottom to get more even light falling on the screen? Is there anything that you think I might be able to do with camera settings to help? The camera we are using has the ability to do 60 frames a second, would that help?

Thanks for the link; I have been through all of that tutorial and a few others on other sites. I think part of the problem is the amount of speed I have added to the time remapping part of the project. I also think I am trying to use way too much of the footage in the foreground layer causing “blips” of people in the scene. I am going to work with that later today.

Am I in the wrong place? Should I not be here because I don’t do this for a living? Am I unwelcome on these boards? I don’t understand why asking questions of those who live and breathe this stuff gets me responses like this. Is it the way I am asking? I really love the resource this site is, but lately all I have felt in these forums is hostility towards my questions.

Thanks for any and all help.

    Hello

depending on what you click on to select the mask, you may be selecting the whole mask, a point of the mask or 2 points. i have found that if i click on the mask in the layers on the timeline i get the whole mask and the whole thing moves when i click and drag in the preview pane. if i click on the line between 2 points i get the 2 points and the line moves when i drag. if i click away from anything and then go over a point and click i get the point and i can move that to where ever i want and this only affects that point.

be aware that depending on what tool you are on you may also add or delete points. the control and the alt keys will alter the pen tool to do different things as you hold them and click. if you are on the object tool, the arrow, the points are treated as objects, unless you modify your click with the control or alt key.

hope this helps understand what is going on.

  • Hello

thats a pretty tough shot to work with. its duration is so short and the frame wobbles a lot.

is there any more “junk” footage without that wood in it, with the same camera angle? if there is you could cut a frame from it and then put it over top with a mask and hand track it.

if this is the duration of the piece that you need then it wouldnt be a terrible amount of work. i have done similar and you can fake it pretty good for short pieces like this.

check out the stuff i have been doing here:

    Hello

your clip looses half because the outpoint stayed where it was, but the footage is twice as long. you may need to make the comp longer, then take the out point of the footage and move it until it wont move to the right anymore.

    Check out this:

    Dave Speaks, The Change

even though i have tracked it by hand, i would say that if i could get mocha to do it i would have a better chance of getting rid of the wobble towards the end of the clip. if you can explain a few steps to help me get mocha to track this it would be a big help. 🙂

    Hello Bar3nd

The Key was the problem. in the second picture i posted you can see that the edges were full of artifacts. The other problem was the dark halo around the subject. i went to Andrew Kramer’s tutorial about keying and followed him, wow, what a difference.

i posted and then tried to do more with out waiting for a response and now i think i posted in haste. this shot is finally coming together, but if anyone has any suggestions from thier experience with keying and tracking, its all welcome.

how do you create and animate a garbage matte? i have downloaded the beta 1.2.1 soho edition and it doesnt seem to be any better than the MochaAE edition.
