Thank you everyone! I will try to resize the psd beforehand. I didn’t do that because I thought it’s better to have a higher resolution psd, turns out it isn’t better.

No, I didn’t have adaptive resolution turn on. It’s not just in preview, I can see the jaggied edge in the rendered file as well. The resolution of the psd is 900 x 300 px, 72 dpi. It seems to me that it has something to do with the size of the corner pin. I don’t see the jaggied edge if my corner pin area is big, say a quarter of the size of SD. But it’s very visible when it is small, about 90 x 30 px is this case. That’s something I don’t understand.

Thanks for the lighting tips Todd! I am just wondering, if I don’t need the shadow any more, maybe I don’t need the green screen neither since the camera position is fixed, I can just put a mask on the window in post and put the new footage in(behind actually, since we’ll be using AE). The only bit that I might need the green screen would be the a part of the window behind the talent.

Thanks everyone and wow! I wasn’t expecting to be this difficult, and sounds like the problem is retaining the reflection. Would it be easier if we forgot about the reflection? It’s nice to have the reflection because it looks more realistic. But replacing the view outside is more important, perhaps losing the reflection would be a better solution?
I have spoken to the DoP, he said he is not going to use any light for the green screen because day light would be sufficient. I just worry that it’s gonna be tricky to pull the matte later if we didn’t light it evenly.
Is he right or am I thinking too much?

Thanks Dave. Not much action is going to happen. The actor will be sitting on the sofa reading and turn his head looking out of the window once in a while. we are not very concern about the reflection of the actor. we are trying to get some reflection of the interior on the window, so when we replace the view outside. it’s going to look a bit more realistic with the reflection. I am just wondering if that’s possible to do without shooting the reflection separately because we are think about shooting the reflection against black separately and using blend mode later in after effects.

I have been searching for things like that on the net. the closest thing I have found so far is this youtube video:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Uum8u0Wd8U

according to the comments of that video, I should be able to do that just with keylight. but to be honest, I am not very good with that. So I am wondering is there something I should do, prepare or pay attention to when I am setting up the green screen on set so I don’t have to spend next 3 weeks sitting in front of the computer.

A Tom Sellek mustache on a girl? that’ll be cool. but i afraid it’s something a bit more subtle.
I looked at the footage again. it actually isn’t a mustache, it’s some kind of a shadow.
anyway, the plug in that i mentioned is called beauty box

June 1, 2010 at 5:10 pm in reply to: replacing number plate on vehicle

Thank you everyone for your reply. I did use mocha for ae to track the number plate and export the data for ae corner pin. it sort of worked, it’s just that the original number plate is bend. so the end result looks a bit odd. and i did make the new number plate a bit bigger to cover the old one, i was stuck at this stage and decided to come here and look for help. I guess i will have to paint it in photoshop. let’s see how it goes. thanks again everybody!
