September 28, 2007 at 4:45 pm in reply to: merge layers together…?

Hi, I am pretty new to PA and I have not found anyway to link layers (Object Tracks) yet. The only thing I can find is to merge the layers into one so that they can then be moved together. Selecting a track you want to move, click on the Track Commands button / Move selected objects to Track/Track 1 (e.g.). Continue doing that till you have the group you want. I would suggest you move the object in relation to the Track 1 before the attempting the operation. Not ideal but a workaround.

If you use AE then I am sure you can “parent layers” within that application.

    Thanks

Just to let everyone know Peter sussed the problem and came up with the answer, it was a problem between the keyboard and the chair. I said that btw 😉

Once you have painted your stroke or whatever I was getting a permanent style added. Go to the border tab at the top and ensure that all 4 small boxes (top left) are unchecked. One problem I will never have again.

    Thanks

Tony, thanks for replying. I have been filming ets for a few days and have just read your post. Glad I am not stupid and I am not the only one to see this. I do have it working within Avid Liquid as a plug-in but sometimes it would be nice to work as a standalone.

Perhaps one of the moderators could reply on this point as the Boris website is in fact giving out false information (intentionally or not).

    Thanks

  • Thank you John, the link works fine, I am not an AE buff so not too much help just now but maybe in the future.

    Thanks

  • John, I went to have a look at that post but it doesn’t work. Just got AnimPro and hungry for learning more.

    Thanks

    Peter,

I sussed it out, for some reason the Face has a copy of the Video V1 media and that is what was causing the “double take”. So, I apply the BFX in Liquid, edit the Effect (opens Boris), add the MS effect to the Video 1 track (delete Video 2 track) AND then turn off the eye on the Face (Track 1) media. I can then adjust as required (still learning finer details) and apply so it renders and goes back to Liquid complete with transparency on the edges about the moving clip.
Thanks for replying Peter, I will be posting more as I learn. I did post an email on the B Support site but have not heard back from them regarding a comment on the User Manual. another story…

    Thanks

I had already tried that one, I am using Avid Liquid Pro with ATI X800. Initially I was trying using the 1394 O/P from the main board and an A/V converter (with no luck). I will now try via the actual graphics card. Nice to know it is actually active in FX as there are lots of options that seem to be available on screen but are not actually available within FX. The on-line manual needs updating too as it appears to be written for the full blown RED (I think).

    Thanks

    Alan
