Are you saying that the AVIs were working before, and no longer show? (The exact same files that were working before)

Could be an OpenGL issue. Are you using the latest drivers for your card?

I’m not sure what you mean by “continually looping” — you can’t stop the playback?

Does this happen when you don’t load AVIs but work with the program for a while? How long are the AVIs? How many emitters are you adding? Are you working at high frame numbers? particleIllusion works best with shorter clips, as it often needs to recalculate all particles from frame 1 — if you’re working at frame 3000, that can drag your system down.

The size of the file isn’t too important. What resolution is it?

I suggest converting it to AVI or even a JPG image sequence and load that in pIllusion instead — you’ll probably have much better performance.

If it’s still slow after converting, try checking the “don’t use texture RAM for bg images” option (or uncheck it if checked) on the OpenGL page of Preferences.

Update particleIllusion and pIllusionRender to the latest versions then see if the problem continues.

What output codec are you choosing?

There’s a very old tutorial for this. Check the tutorials page of the wondertouch site.

I don’t think it was a moderator, but Creative Cow may automatically remove system info — but I doubt it. Perhaps there was a character that the post didn’t like, which resulted in truncated info?

  • Press the “S” key when particleView is open. This works in both the Win and Mac versions of pView.

You can do some other things with pView too — press F1 on the Windows version for a list of all commands. On the Mac version, just look at the commands in the “Emitter” menu. Note that on the Mac version you can use CMD+whatever key as well as just the key alone (so cmd+S and S both bring up the search window).

Ok, the video tutorial has been put on hold, so if you can describe what you want to do in more detail, I’ll be able to tell you how to do it.

What do you mean by “fireworks explode to form a word”? I’m working on a little video tutorial right now that hopefully is what you want.

I’ll post the results when I’m finished.

Ack! Don’t Chromakey! Just choose an output format or codec that supports alpha channel and check the “save alpha” option.
