This is the same approach I have always used – I had presumed that is was different on LCDs.
Small detail – still photography generally works in RGB up to the point of prepress.
Thanks.

A little more research. I don’t seem to have the issue with other PP project files. It seems to be centered on this project file. Unless there is some specific fix to this file, I can probably limp along until this project is finished.

The computer seems to function ok during freeze, more or less. When PP is frozen, it does not refresh the screen very well. If I pop up a Windows Explorer window and then try to close or reduce it to the task bar, the screen either will not refresh or takes a very long time to do so.
Adobe suggests: Some problems may be caused by a damaged PluginCache file. To re-create this file, hold down the Shift key while choosing Start > Programs > Adobe Premiere Pro. Release the key when the Select Initial Workspace window appears.
However, when I try starting the program this way, PP ignores my attempts to recreate the cache file and opens normally.
I have reinstalled PP and still nothing seems to fix the issue. Suggestions?!!!

It actually doesn’t matter if I have captured anything or not. When I close the capture window, the freeze happens. That and when I create a new folder it also has the same effect.

It does not appear to be anything to do with the deck, as it captures just fine – I have captured hundreds of clips while limping through the problem. The capture utility window hangs when it writes the file name to the project window. This seems to be more related to project manager than actually to the capture function.

Additional detail: the same freeze happens when I move a file from one folder to another in PP.

Corrupt files appear to have been the problem. I narrowed it down to a folder of tif files that came from frame grabs out of Premier Pro 1.0. Bridge on both my Vaio and my notebook had the same problem with this folder, which was on both machines. Since I also had jpg versions of these files, I dumped the entire folder and all is well now.
Thanks much to the COW and all who offer their expertise.

I have tried all these suggestions, but still no luck. Any other Ideas?

I managed to find the full solution on the Adobe site. I updated the Main Concept encoder, but did not install the 2nd option, which is a Windows update. All works well now. The Adobe solution can be found at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?event=view&id=KC.330380&extid=330380&dialogID=38452953&iterationID=1&sessionID=96306c7c6a057b56e362&stateID=1+0+38484060&mode=simple
