…and thank you Mr. Natress for the free reversal plug-in. I just tested it out and it’s beautiful!

To Mr. Biscardi: Ya know, I just cannot get a handle on these various levels of render quality in FCP. I believe I have it set to the highest quality (tho I don’t see a “best”). This is what I have it set to: Safe RT; Scrub High Quality; Playback Quality: Dynamic; Playback Frame Rate: Full; Multiclip Playback; Record to Tape: Full Quality. So beats me. Is this best quality?

    BTW, Love Good Eats.

To Mr. Natress: Your Film Effects suite looks great but I don’t see anything–in that particularly, nor anywhere else on your site–about “G Reverse” Where would I find that?

    Wow. What the…?

I checked the motion window and doggoneit if there wasn’t some mystery time remapping control activated. How on earth could that have happened? All I did was drop this clip into the time line. Didn’t even do an audio level correction on it. I don’t even know what the function of time remapping is!

Best part–other than this seeming to have cleared up the problem–is that I did a double-P and tried just removing the keyframe points on the time remap and the clip froze on the frame that the playhead was sitting on. I had to delete and drop in a new clip.

    What a freakout.

Thanks so much Mr. Aulier…I have the feeling that a prefs trashing is in order.

Well, I didn’t have any filters on it, so that ain’t it.

I tried the forced re-render and that didn’t help.

    It’s rendered highest quality.

But I will try that FCP rescue deal.

    Thanks for your help

As a matter of fact, this is the very article I found that caused me to think I finally understood this whole pull-down craziness. I put a link to it on that other forum right before I came to Creative Cow for support.

But thanks. You’re right. it’s a valuable publication.

    Wow. Crazy.

Well first of all, thank you one and all. I went to a Christmas party last night and tried to have a good time, all the while this issue hanging over my head what with 5 weeks left to do a 6 week edit. You don’t know what I’ve been going through this past 10 days or so trying to nail this issue down. I am now at peace.

However I think I’m going to send the link to this thread to those guys in another forum that will go nameless; the ones who flat out told me just the opposite of what you all wrote here. This after exhaustive research on my own and arriving at this very concusion, feeling confident finally that I understood this confusing thing–only to have them tell me , in the words of Firesign Theater, “Everything you know is wrong.”

Anyway. Thanks. My producer thanks you. My partner thanks you. My backers thank you.
