also – I’ll just say it – I found it weirdly fascinating – we know, god I please think I’m going to be right here, but without compound quantization errors, the audio retains aesthetic qualities far longer?
but i’ve got to say this for the combined video MP4 stuff – there is an inherent aesthetic to the block breakdown in video. I rather dig it. It never goes anywhere bad. As someone who has done some extreme experiments. video encoding stays kind of artistic all the way to the end in my experience. having done L frame breakthroughs, he said fancily. There is an aesthetic to extreme video breakdown.

he pulled the analogue precursor on garchows choice post like it was a ham sandwich. going back through his stream is mind bogglingly rewarding. I’ve literally just skimmed it again. there are some choice cuts there. including experimental sixties docos with typography, god that was so lovely.

honestly – people really have to stop trying to characterise it as the future – Cioni could lay off it for instance – FCPX is a powerful option. calling every other editing system the past just doesn’t pass the sniff test. Premiere CC kicks its ass across the room in a number of areas, and it kicks premieres in a number of areas too. Neither of them can touch the industrial strength stability of Avid. Obviously avid is the worst though.
Avid really is just the worst. the absolute worst. God how do I hate thee avid.
