Yeah that’s a point really. I may be a bit beyond help…
Business good – better January then usual, and I apparently get to go into BBC worldwide for a few weeks next and cut ‘showcase’ promos. I don’t what that means but it sounds promising. The last gig I got off them was a fortnight cutting an internal short film marking the 50th anniversary of doctor who. My inner child actually died from shock that time, or a brain hemmorrhage.
After that I haven’t a notion, my gigs rarely last longer than a fortnight. My biggest New Years resolution is to remember to save up for tax. Also if I don’t buy a new computer soon, my laptop is going to drag itself off the desk in an attempted act of euthanasia.

well that’s approaching interesting. it’s like saying the editing market is now close to fine art.
that the market for editors is not valid outside vanishingly small operators. That harm has been done on a weird level.I do, myself, adore the various moronic simplicities and reductions introduced with the magnetic timeline, and all the intellectual limitations,
given the fact that it was a savage kick to anyone apple ever spoke to, I broadly applaud their knocking over the entire intellectual domino set of editing itself.really – congratulations apple – that felt entirely considered.

yeah, but that nose dive was weird – it plummeted between 2005 – 2009. where it was in 2005 was just bizarre relative to FCP.
It actually looks pretty steady over the voldemort subscription era?and the tutorial thing surprised me – I’d have bet any money FCP would have that stat clobbered. I mean – it should have that stat clobbered?

that still doesn’t get them to the visual stack feedback of a nice photoshop layers palette like motion has though.
It’s funny, I remember years ago giving new staff initial (blind leading the blind) training on AE – and I’d call it photoshop with a timeline bolted on, it seemed a good phrase, but thinking about it, its the fact that motion has kept the layers and timeline separate that allows for that lovely layer view you get.

I’m averse to mast nailing you know. If I see a mast, the last thing I’ll try and do is nail things to it. masts have a hard enough time as it is.

mmm. lets not go overboard, I still think as a piece of software its a rank little hobgoblin that I wish had died in the cot, but well, its here to stay now apparently.
Mostly I made such a song and dance about the hundred million dollar movie thing I felt a serious urge to put my hand up.
