sort of awesome – there are problems –

are you limited to a single project, it kind of looks like it – can you tab timelines?
with no track designations, how do OMFs work?
can we still slide and trim clips directly in the timeline, or do we have to enter that incredibly OTT AB editing mode?
with no clip viewer, how does multiclip work?
where do we set in and out points prior to stamping to the timeline? are we stuck using a yellow selection square? (i can’t believe they didn’t address that in the demo)
Clips automatically swapping around each other looks insane – my edit is not a jenga puzzle, that has to be turnoffable.
with only a single smart cursor, in other words with the tool palette, and the other states of the cursor (blade, slip, roll) gone, does this mean i have to jump into the AB trim mode all the time?
why is there an entire menu designated “share” and is anyone else freaked out by that?
why are they listing as key benefits auto tools to compensate for shoddy audio and bad camera shake? these are prosumer solutions, is this a prosumer product? What about all the facilities that invested vast amount of money in transitioning to FCP?
Can we look forward to red eye reduction being the next headline feature?

my thinking here does kind of amount to; mutter, mutter, rhubarb, rhubarb..

on a childish level i’m mebee just irked to see that after effects is not now
quite as much an individual software effort, but part of a broader initiative.

hi ron et al,

welll, i did suspect i was on a rant.. the shape layer feature is beginning to intrigue quite a bit,
the improved ability to address processors and ram had also slipped past me.
the motion blur enhancement is a happy note. Im still a bit leery of puppeter,
which is unfair having not seen it.

As to integration and workflow, i cant argue that, but it goes to the issue of customer choice:
imho opinion premire simply is not at all a match for FCP and im not inclined to drop my skillset
and a superior product for integration carrots. I think it depend on how you look at it.

As a professional im going to try and tool up on what i see as the best and most effective software
(or what was in front of me starting out.. ala 3ds max)

Adobe is proffering the arguement that a walled garden of software,
that inevitably is of varying quality, outweighs that logic. I disagree.

Couldn’t data interoperability also be handled by open standard file formats and OS level
tools? (apples purchase and future OS assimilation of proximity artbox springs to mind..)

mmm. I dont think so. comp is 250 frames long, consists of an image sequence, one audio track, no effects & i have 3 gigs of ram. Plus ae7 is declaring a green line & playback at 25fps (i have it at half res). If this is a bug, im thinking other people would have encountered it, thats why im throwing this up on the cow. I’ll keep trying to troubleshoot this, but it seems sort of arbitrary. As i said: if this is a bug (and it may not be), but if it is im aghast.
we just relocated & have settled a department around AE7 for promos, titles & post production.

we used to have a fold out bed in the station. (station was located in the middle of a fairly desolate bog..) First year or two, when we were manic to learn, it got used the bit. Along with red bull, & pot after pot of horrific coffee. Ah, happy days.. a time-share cot, that, over time, developed enough of a pong that the technical director of the station eventually took matters into his own hands, dragged the thing out back & heaved it into the skip. It has also been four years suince I drank red bull in a work related context. (shudder at memory..;)

mine seems ok so far too. Mentally fast too. Its rendering look suite on 1080i hd 2x/3x faster than my old box was rendering same on pal sd. which is quite the jump. Old box was a quicksilver dual mind, but still, the speed of the thing is just berserk, as far as i can tell.. felt the urge to share. wee! ive got a quad!

come ooon. And even if it were to be termed simply bridge like, well then it definitively kicks bridges a**. well it does.. Ive been evangelising this thing on more than one forum, but i mean look at the real time colour correction, intuitive spatial file organisation, non-destructive user alterable event stacks on pure raw images (did you see the bit where he reached back & adjusted the crop? that kicks history into the next field).. Blow for blow where it coincides in methodology, it knocks PS down pretty flat. & its a 1.0 release..
