Reading through all of this was worth it, if only to watch Bill Davies stick his fingers in his ears and scream “I CAN’T HEAR YOU, HAVE YOU TRIED XINTWO MY MARVELLOUS TRAINING SERIES.”

Good times guys, good times. Well worth the dip back in. Also that CC colour science operation is clearly fubar yes? Yes.

Drive by potshot only Oliver. It would appear Davis will forever on some level require it. You need to keep a certain man down.

    Good vid,

I think it was great seeing Bill at his emotional best, proudly invested in the idea that FCPX is “webpage” around the ten minute mark.
Watching Michael Kammes reflexively blink at the 11.29″ point felt an excellent back and forth. I will make a gif of that.

26″ When Bill re-litigated the 2011 launch of FCPX I could feel heads nodding.

27″ Bill got emotional there. I’m not sure why we never got FCPX either. Why amn’t I cutting on X?

33″ Oliver fails to mention the mordor quicksand that is PPro audio channel philosophy. Did everyone at home remember to re-wire their stereo tune as l-r pan mono?

38″ Bill admits X is a world unto its own. Bill has walked into that valley. Bill is playing that piano.

39″ Scott Simmons then presents the notion of musical skill and basic competency. Rumour is that things should not always be in sync.
    It’s an amoral difficult world.

40″ Kammes sounds like an adult. Scatter.

On balance, Oliver Peters is realistically the only sane person there. Good vid.

nope still out like Bieberkopf Herb. Just read that thing? It’s just mad that Apple are pushing boats out everywhere.

They’re doing touch bars for function keys and 3D touch paradigms for the phone that aren’t happening and really specific weird lane role something connection magnetic things with editing I haven’t kept track of. It seems like apple are somehow talking to themselves lately?
I’m still pretty sure they’re not frozen in place navel gazing tho.

Adobe across premiere, after effects, photoshop, audition and illustrator still beats that release to a pulp.
It’s a lot less expensive, but it still beats it to death. And the expense is seriously relative.

Random rare interjection, and I loved that 10.3 demo video, but past a certain point – who cares?
Apple could make their upgraded editing system presentation levitate and I’m still not sure why I’d care?
Aren’t they still just doing weird hand stands off in the corner? Who cares?

Also their keyframing apparatus is still a garbage fire. You need to put on hazmat gloves. I did check that bit.

Hey Walter, on the money as ever – trashing prefs fixed it.

Kind of honour bound to say that, to be fair, that really does look pretty cool. They ticked a whole pile of boxes there.
All they had to do was release this in 2011 and we all might not have run off screaming.

yes exactly – to be clear – I was just talking the mickey with that batman stick around until you’re the villian/troll quote – that one applied directly to me and many others. I don’t check this place as often as I did, but Simon is one of the people who I would turn up to read. He’s not Batman, he’s an essentially genteel Islington Spock as it were. Unpick that one yanks. He’s probably Corbynite. That’s a limestone mineral.

Anyway – not here that often and I wasn’t here. Please ignore the stupid gag. That said – Master level tag search HUD for editors is a mad wheeze though? Wouldn’t it demand some memory mind you?

I wonder why all Derren Brown scale card counting memory feats involve trained mental spatial arrangement of items. In physical rooms even. I wonder if that practice is important and applicable to critical non-linear editing decision making at the sharp end, where you have trained yourself into a, oh I don’t know… spatial mind palace of discreet footage location compartments for recall. That can’t be right surely. Why did we replace a command line search string with memory based spatial drag and drop MacOS finder again? Three decades ago? I’ve got to be wrong there.

ANYWAY. It’s not David Lawrence material there God knows but it’s at least a small pile of verbiage for you to mercilessly unpick Ubsdell? I do buy spatial recall though. I think it’s as old as the hills and it has form.

To quote Batman: if you stick around long enough, you end up a troll, a bore or worse, an incoherent evangelist.
