  • Weird text bug in after effects 2015.3

    has anyone else had this?

AE 2015.3 running on Mac OS Sierra 10.12.1

When you set up a text layer and type in some copy – once you hit enter to confirm, you can no longer double click the layer to select the text again. Double clicking text layer for selection is broken?

Also if you create a text layer, do not enter text, and then press enter so that you get a default “empty text layer” – at that point the layer is useless because there is no way of activating it to start entering text? When you double click on the text layer nothing happens – there’s just an error beep.

    That’s a bit of a bad bug.

Hmm, works for me. I’m on El Capitan though…

First things first. Does resetting the preferences (holding Command+Option+Shift while starting Ae) help?

there is renaming bug when using 2015.3 with Sierra. you should use CC2017 because it’s the only version that is supported for Sierra and apparently do not have bugs related to this Os.

more about this bug and possible workarounds here: https://forums.adobe.com/message/9128208

What Aindreas is running into sounds different than the Sierra rename bug, the workarounds there probably don’t apply — but the point that 2015.3 and Sierra may not mix is absolutely valid.

you’re right. guess we will have to wait and see what Op can try and see what’s the issue eventually.

Hey Walter, on the money as ever – trashing prefs fixed it.
