Just mucked about there – the interesting thing is that if you take in a sequence from a previous version of the project, the sequence clips in the imported sequence from the earlier version of the project will point to the master clips in the current project?

David Lawrence posted about this below too, but the one project at a time thing can get really old.
If you want to get access to a bit of footage from another project, or from an earlier version because you went and deleted it, there is no opening up the other project for a sec and grabbing the footage ala FCP7 – you’re importing the whole project into your project.If its late on and the project is complicated, effectively doubling it, just to get at a piece of footage or what have you – is a right pain. Plus you end up with duplicate master clips as far as the eye can see.
Everyone on AE is really used to this kind of crazy, its the exact same deal, but it feels kind of mad in an editing system.
On the upside the tilde key functionality – hover exploding any panel to fullscreen also comes from AE – and that is pure, pure win. It’s basically my favourite interface feature ever.

no offence to craig – but this is not exactly the first time he has highlighted the fact that he cuts for the culture show on FCPX – also it is not the programme or the BBC adopting FCPX – it is craig, he is a freelancer employed by the BBC for that show. The BBC generally cuts on avid to my knowledge, some FCP, although they did bulk purchase a few thousand premiere seats last year – its meant to fill out lower stuff and produce self edit jobs. the BBC has not purchased a single license of FCPX, or installed a single seat to my knowledge.
Another biggie recently was the Associated Press announcement that they are shifting their entire news and documentary editing production process entirely to Premiere Pro.

I bought that thing (via my station at the time) at ver. 1.0 – the very minute it came out of black box operation at the orphanage.
that it, and others, have been left half hanging for months on end, with customers, without answer,
in Apple’s supposedly flag-ship editing system is a poor show.
It just is.it’s hard to argue this: Apple’s communication position now is a joke – both to professional partners, and to professional customers.

walter – given it kind of visibly resembles a fair bit of AE project structure, so from what you’ve dug into – is it stupid to think PPro is sharing some of the same project management architecture as AE?

It’s incredibly hard to get my one small birdie to speak, I barely have a birdie frankly – but the birdie is in a 50-100 seat place that just plumped for PPro.
the birdie says anywhere was a fundamental sway.the birdie had been very strong on FCPX, investigating it thoroughly for nearly a year for corporate reasons – but then, after examination, that pressure went away.
My misgivings are whether or not anywhere represents a full intellectual re-fit of PPro – or a price proposition for editing SMEs.
again – I basically can’t believe adobe could realistically leave the current basic architecture in place outside of anywhere.
Given the state of PPro project management, as it creeps towards primetime – Adobe have to swop that out before anyone notices how messed up it is.
