The audio checkbox is unchecked in the compression settings.
To increase the quality, increase the data rate. You may also want to increase the number of video keyframes.
AS far as the black is concerned, I’m not sure what to tell you. Is WMV an option? WMV preserves color pretty well.

what video codec are you using? Squeeze should be able to read all codecs on your system, but sometimes that doesn’t actually work out.
Try rendering with a different video codec.

what is your input audio rate? Is it 48 compressed to 44? That could be the problem. Can you create your original at 44?
It’s also possible it’s a bug. You may want to email (or even call) them to discuss it.

I’d say not with particleIllusion alone, but in conjunction with a compositing program, it’s probably doable. But it will require planning.

In addition, in cs3, you can go into the graph editor and select some or all the keyframes. Then, with the bounding box turned on (it’s a button at the bottom), scale out the box. It will scale any selected keyframes proportionally.

Well, when I got started, no one was there to advise me, so I’m glad to help (at least I hope I am helping).
It’s something people are uncomfortable talking about, and I understand it. But at the same time, I think it’s time someone did, and I commend Brenden (beenyweenies) for being brave enough to put it out there.
But please none of that AE-god talk here. we are just people helping each other. There are other forums where you have to give homage, but not here.

granted, as Scott said, if you are just editing, then AE is never your best bet. But if you intend to add motion gfx or effects, then you need AE.
So only use AE if you need to, otherwise, use an NLE (non linear editor) like premiere, Final Cut, or Vegas.

It’s the exact same encoder that flash uses. The main difference is that you can batch process your footage (Convert many at once).
Understand that flash and flash encoder do not use multi-pass compression – a process which analyzes and then compresses the video. Instead it simply compresses as it goes – which means it cannot produce video nearly as well compressed as an advanced compression program.

There is more than one way to do this, and I’m sure others will sound off, but this is, in my opinion, the right way to do it:
– Render out from AE uncompressed or with lossless compression.
– Bring that uncompressed (or lossless) video into an advanced compression program like Sorenson Squeeze or Flix Pro. You can also use AE of FLash to compress the video, but it will not look NEARLY as good.
From here there are 2 was to go:
A. Output as an FLV, import the FLV into FLash and create an SWF player to load and play the video…
B. Output as an SWF, and use Squeeze’s or FLix Pro’s SWF player templates.
– From there, embed the swf file in the web page using a web design program like Dreamweaver.
