    That’s great Bouke, I agree totally about the ‘try before you buy’

    I’m not really after cheap, I’m after value for money

    Surely there must be a follow focus that works well and doesn’t cost the earth….

    I changed the settings because they were not right for the footage I was using. But yes, I did change them back to what they were before – DV PAL 48mhz – and it transcodes fine.

    It seems this is a bug in FCP. I cannot use the right HD settings for my camera footage, which means that every time I start a project, I have to change the setting for the timeline.

    The lesser of two evils…

    My problem is now solved! It was all in the QT settings.

    The real problem is, when i save it as a self-contained movie, it ends up letterboxed in a 4:3 frame, and when I drop that into iDVD, it ends up pillarboxed.
