October 19, 2011 at 9:40 pm in reply to: Panasonic AJ-HPX2700, native footage or ProRessWell, I dont know, I have never worked with Premiere, only AE.
Another question, I am working on a chroma key project.
Are the 10 bit proress just as good as the native footage?
Where can I get the codec for the native footage?

Thanks, what about the format, its mpg2?
Is that strong enough for post and color correction.
I will need to load the keyed footage into a 3d virtual scene in 3d studio max then film it in max and render out in rpf sequence to AE for recompositing.
I am a little worried about the mpg2 format. How many bits is it?
Last question, Is ex 1 footage true 1080p?
Any advice is real welcome.

Thanks for the reply,
I found a Sony ex1 camera. We have a big green screen to film models.
6 soft boxes.
As you recommended the Sony ex1, does it record real 1080p?
Would you recommend filming at 24 frames?
Anny other tips?
Looking forward to hearing from you,

If it is not a very long shot then I would clean it up in photoshop. Render it out of AE as a sequence and import into photoshop.
Then use the tools like clone etc etc to correct the red line frame by frame.
This is time consuming but would give great results and if your footage is not too long you could do this in a couple of hours.
Then save the corrected sequence in photoshop and re-import back to AE.
Again, its not the fastest way but it will give you very good results.

September 3, 2011 at 3:43 am in reply to: alpha + not showing, instead a grey background is showing!Thx Darby and Walter, So EXR really is the only option for a 32 bits AE image sequence with transparency rendered to be used in photoshop?????!!
Great that will be the way then.
I was going crazy with the tiffs and PSDs thinking I was doing something totally wrong and trying everything to get the transparency to work.
Altough its an understatement to say I am grateful to adobe for CS5 and AE and photoshop etc etc, I do think its a pity that the psd outa AE dont support transparency, I mean there is a check box in the render settings for alpha+. After all it is called a PSD (photoshop file), what good is a psd without transparency.
And…… Psds from photoshop import perfectly into AE with transparency.
Too bad.
Thanks again and I will let you know how the EXR works.

Thanks Walter, the link helps and makes sense. So PSD it will be.
I still have the following questions.
1. In AE my workspace in the project settings is still set to none, should I change this to adobe?
2. After rendering 32 bit float psd out of AE, Will photoshop see the psd sequence as a 32 bit project or do I have to set that manually in photoshop? Are there any other settings that need to be changed.
3. after editing i Photoshop, can I save to psd again and will this automatically be 32 bit?

Thanks Ben,
Its only like 6 seconds at 30 frames per second that I need to export.
I just thought it would be great not to leave the 32 bit domain as I will have to re-import the sequense out of photoshop back into my 32 bpc AE project.
O yes, I do need alpha channel as well.
I know Tiff is a high quality format but there are so many settings to choose from.
Can any one give me some advice on this?

Thanks,
The TV station is NTSC standard. They convert anything they get to an mpg format for broadcasting. Any tips on how to deliver the best possible format? They don’t seem to know or care everything is fine for them. Normally I make a Quicktime NTSC standart, sometimes 29.97 and other times 24 frames or even 23.976 frames. Most stuff I do is animation and rendered progressive.
I got the list from the Cinemas, lots of information… more confusing then anything. In fact it looks like they except lots of formats and they will convert, but last time they did that it went wrong.
I am going to have a talk with the company that does the conversion for them. Thanks,
Adeeb

OK, so I always thought 23.976 was the rate for Cinemas.
Actually I also have to make a copy for TV. so if I understand correctly I have to do the following:
1. Leave the one for the movies at 24 frames.
2. change the one for TV at interpret footage to 23.976 as well as th project settings (but will this influence the audio sync).
There was no video footage, these are Flash swifs imported to AE. Originally done in 24 frames in flash. Also AE titles and effects also done at 24 frames. I need to composite all together and render them for TV and movies.
Thanks
