OK, just so we’re 100% clear before I start deleting anything:

I delete the imported media in the bin. Do I delete the associated media files too? Then I re-import the media, and it should now be HD. Does it matter if I batch import it or not?

    Thanks again,

    Adam

OK, but will I still have to redo all the editing?

    Ah, that’s what I was afraid of/expected.

This project is actually something like 90% still images and text that I’ve got moving around on the screen (stock photos growing a tad with words under them) so I’m not really sure if those count as HD or not. The remaining 10% is the pre0made animated background image (SD) and an animated bit that I did in After Effects (HD).

All I know is there’s already an enormous noticeable difference between the old version and the new version that I’ve started with the correct presets.

    OK, thanks!

That did it, thanks! Turns out I needed to change the iLink setting, which is in the camera’s menu when it’s in playback mode.

Now I have a smaller problem: FCP is making every. single. camera start/stop a separate clip, meaning that there are around 200 clips per tape. What do I do if I want to change this? The article posted below mentions this, but doesn’t say how to get rid of it. Thanks!

I’ll have to check the requirement list again, but I think it has a minimum size of 115 mm for lenses.

Thanks everyone. I think I’ll get the 60D. Now for the lens.

I’m leaning towards the EF-S 18 135 or 200 mm lens, which B&H packages along with the camera. Any thoughts?

So after consulting with a friend and reading these posts, I’m leaning toward either the 7d or the 60d. Any more thoughts on one over the other?

Ah, I should have mentioned that earlier. I’d really like to use it for narrative, but I’m more likely to be using it for events more often. I’d really like one with a longer record time, but I need this camera fairly soon for this photography job. I also have a real video camera for events, as long as the client doesn’t require a DSLR.

Thanks for that. While I’ll certainly be using a lot of things on that link between now and Christmas, I sorta right now have the rare opportunity to get a paid tutorial for free (as a gift) and want to take advantage of it.

So, to phrase my question a different way: What’s the best gift to give to someone who wants to learn AfterEffects CS5?
