Yes! Using FCS Remover and reinstalling seems to have fixed it. I’m rendering my first attempt through Compressor out now. So far, so good.
Thanks again for all your help! Not sure what keeps glitching, but I guess I know a way to fix it now…

[Jeremy Garchow] I doubt it. If it’s not there, it seems to me that there’s something else going on. A full remove and reinstal of FCP should take care of it.
Yeah, I assumed, so I’ll give it another go with the FCS Remover, and see where we’re at.

OK, so to keep everybody up to date, I got a new iMac, and installed FCS on it, and did not have the problems I was having with the copy on my laptop. But, last week, it started again. I tried Compressor Repair, and that fixed it for a couple of days, then it stopped working.
This may be an unrelated problem, because I tried to reinstall Compressor after using AppZapper to delete it. But, now when I launch Compressor, the main window isn’t there, in fact none of the windows launch, but as you can open the Inspector, History, Preview, Settings and Destinations windows from the Window menu, those aren’t a problem. What is a problem though, is that the main window, where you drag settings and destinations, is not an option to be launched. You can go to the Film menu and select “New Batch” but that doesn’t do anything either.
So, with that in mind, I tried your suggestion, but /var/spool/qmaster cannot be found, evidentially. I don’t know. I’ve tried wiping Final Cut Studio from the system and reinstalling, but that doesn’t seem to do anything, I’ve trashed the preferences for Compressor, Final Cut, QMaster, and Batch Monitor. I’ve tried a selective reinstall, but that’s crippled Compressor more. I think the last thing left is a full system wipe. Not really looking forward to that.

Would creating the folder cause QMaster to jump on board? Or is there a way to reinstall it?>> [Adam Farnsworth] “I’ve tried wiping Final Cut Studio from the system and reinstalling, but that doesn’t seem to do anything”

I used AppZapper on all the separate apps. Would I have had better luck with FCS remover or does it do the same thing, but just FCS specific?>> [Adam Farnsworth] “I think the last thing left is a full system wipe. Not really looking forward to that.”

I don’t know, seems like a poor way to spend a day. 🙂Thanks so much for your continued help! I really appreciate someone being in the foxhole with me.

November 23, 2008 at 2:26 pm in reply to: Compressor 3 – Hit Submit, Nothing HappensOK, so that sort of worked. I tried the Compressor Repair and now it’s getting half way through a render and then starting over, but then it’s broken again. I run the repairing app again and it will then start to render and again stop halfway through. It appears as though it’s a Qmaster issue…

November 11, 2008 at 4:21 am in reply to: Compressor 3 – Hit Submit, Nothing HappensI’m on a 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac Book Pro running Leopard 10.5.5. I’m usually trying to encode in H.264. Sometimes I use Photo JPG if I’m working with older systems.
Oh, I also have the Episode 5 plugin installed, but have not been using it. I assumed it would be wiped when I reinstalled, but I should probably lose that, then reinstall again.
