  • Hi again, just letting you know that I fixed the problem myself.

Basically (and this is embarassing!) I was doing a very basic mistake… I kept plugging the speaker cables into the old soundcard !

It took another person (and a “fresh eye”) to spot the obvious!
    Thanx anyway!

  • Hi everyone !

This is my very first post in the forum.

I have a system with the following characteristics:
Intell Core 2 Quad, Q8200@2.33 GHz, 4GB of RAM, 1 TERA HD, running Windows XP, SP2.

I have also an onboard Realtec AC97 sound card.

When I tried to run Avid Media Composer 3.0 I get the same error message, i.e “Failed to intialize audio hardware”. The AMC stops at this point and doesn’t open at all.

I have read many posts, and did the folowing:

I have un-installed the Realtec drivers, and installed a new audio card. The new card is a Sound Blaster Creative Audigy.

I was still getting the same problem.

So after reading THIS post (from Mr. Michael Hancock) I went into my BIOS settings and disabled the on-board audio.

Now the AMC starts up without any problems, BUT I don’t have any soud at all !

Can you pleae give me any kind of help? I will really appreciate it!
    Thank you
    Achilles
