Interesting idea; that would be a great backup system since the DVRs are misbehaving. The consulting firm wants to go back to VHS because it fits perfectly for how their program works. However, I keep arguing that nobody has VCRs any more.
The DVDs are a good idea, they’ve just become unreliable of late. Of course, the need to record 2 minutes or so, take it into another room and watch it, bring it back and record on it some more is imperative. I guess I’ll just suggest that they get some consumer grade cameras to replace the old VHS cameras and tell them to keep using the DVRs, maybe get another brand to see if they are more reliable.

Yes, we have been through the menu settings and the manual for the GV-D1000. Basically, it appears that the Final Cut 6 is not communicating with this particular deck correctly. Currently, we have been testing a Sony TRV-25 camcorder to print to tape to see if we have the same problem. Maybe the communication problem with the deck and FCP 6 is related to another software installed on the lab computers. If the camera has the same problems then maybe the decks aren’t a lost cause.
