I cut on an Avid. I was trying to find a way of not tying up the system. Something that could run in the background. Oh well.

I decided to go back to work after all. I figured out the problem.
I turned off the ‘depth of field’ option in the camera. it corrected the distortion problem

I wish I could post a picture… but unfortunately I’m home now and the problem happened at work 🙂 I won’t be able to post anything until Monday. The best way I can describe the distortion is…… well it’s like someone added a layer of film grain.
I tried turning off the light layer and even changing the camera type, but i kept running into the problem. I am using a 4k sized background in an hd comp. (could not find anything smaller)

Maybe one day they’ll build the option into the Capture tool. Would save a few clicks.

Can I ingest SD footage from a tape source without having to change the project to SD temporarily?
