It should work with no problems.
Adobe, like most companies, is more concerned about certifying their software with more current and faster technologies. In the past Adobe’s software has been workable with older video cards, and I don’t see any reason why the new version would be any different.
The biggest concerns over the video card are a supported card bus (ie. AGP or PCI-E) and memory.

You should seriously consider After Effects and the Sound Keys Plugin from Trapcode.
You also should look at what kind of distortion you want.
There’s time remapping filters, and video (bad TV) filters from lots of different companies.
Check out The Foundry’s Tinderbox, and picking up some of the GenArts Sapphire plugins.
Those might just be what you’re needing. -
Matrox Axio’s are configurable with SATA’s.
I’ve seen tested speeds run to above 200MB/s with the right setup.
FW and USB drives are good for storage and backup, but are in no way a preferred choice in editing.
Associated issues with FW and USB drives are their external nature (power/space/cost issues). Most modern computer systems are going to have enough space inside the system to accomodate a few more HDD’s with no problems. If you go with SATA, since it’s all internal, there’s fewer cables, lower cost, and a cleaner workspace. If I needed an extra 300GB of space, I can go buy an internal 300GB for about $120, or I can go external for $250-300.

🙂
Virtual Dub
Load your Xvid codec and your target codec (Microsoft DV, etc.) and then proceed.-Aaron

Make sure you have your matrox codec and your xvid codecs loaded onto the same machine and then open your original file, then save as, choose your target codec, click save, and come back later…
There’s a batch converter (Job Control) as well if you need it.
Virtual Dub works REALLY well, and hasn’t failed me yet. It’s VERY processor intensive, so leave your computer alone as it’s possible to lose audio sync if you do other stuff on your computer.

Running off of Spaceman’s idea,
Animate radial gradients, setting the colors of the inner and outer portions by about 15-20% in value. That way the floors look like they’re lit by a bulb, instead of just colored squares on the floor.
You could get a similar look with a dark glow effect on each animated color square.

I would map some text out using 3D assistants over two different layers into a ring, and then mask out the top layer’s behind the globe portion.
Another way… Use CC Cylinder. Same procedure.

From what got released with the new CS2 (features and such) bundle a few months back, along with what I’ve seen in online demonstrations (There’s an AE7 one floating around out there somewheres…) I don’t think Flash was the holdup. It’ll be nice to have, but I doubt I’ll use it.

I’m one of Matrox’s biggest cheerleaders, and I love the RTx. It’s a great card and it’s got great performance, and has awesome features.
You really DO have to be VERY careful about how it’s setup. I see a lot of hardware only purchases at my office come back only to have us reintegrate it for them later on.
Don’t forget that you can check out the CC Matrox forum for help with technical issues.
