    I should add that the dimensions of the problem file are 1440×912. When I go into the project settings, however, I find no format/resolution setting that matches these dimensions. Could this be the root of my issue? What to do?

    Thanks for your reply, Jeff.

    The only preference I’ve changed from default is to automatically create proxy media in transcoding. I reset that parameter, and the problem persists :/

    I’m new to video production, but this is a rathher strange problem if you ask me. Don’t have the slightest clue what’s causing it.

    Thanks for your reply, Mark…and sorry for the delayed response.

    I know how to EXPORT from FCPX in different codecs, but cannot figure out how to import in a new codec.

    Could I, for example, import an Mp4 or .mov into FCPX, and then export it immediately into ProRes422?

    I’m sure there’s a better method….

    Again, can anyone suggest some good reading material about how different codecs and video formats work, and what their importance is with regard to filming and editing? Would really appreciate it.
