Hm…. But if I load that file into FCP from the desktop, it plays out 100%. I’m on a dual G5 2.7 with a fairly empty SATA drive – so it’s plenty fast for DV50. Mabye QT player itself has the problem….

great card. we’ve had one for YEARS. it’ll work just fine in a G5 – don’t put it in the 133 slot though. has NO analog in or out – just SDI with embedded and AES. you’ll need a Keypsan Serial adapter for deck control. Blackmagic Design still writes drivers for and supports the card. Totally solid performance with the latest OS and FCP 5.

You know, we converted to FCP from all Avid 2 years ago… and at first we got a lot of raised eyebrows. But we learned to approach the subject with the air of “oh, you’re still using Avid? Well yeah, we got rid of them years ago…. just got tired of jumping through their one-trick hoops. Final Cut is really evolving into such a more effective, powerful, and cost-effective solution… ” and then go on a tirade about the seamless workflow of an all Apple studio…. admit some of the shortcomings of FPC, but end it with “I wouldn’t go back. Editing in AVID is too pendantic for me now.” I’ve totally had some AVID diehards start acting like “oh, maybe i should learn some FCP just in case.” 🙂

someone handed me some footage shot on a PD150 in the exact same situation. Except this was under sodium-arc lamps outdoors. the flicker was TERRIBLE. Definately shoot with incandescent bulbs.

Adrenaline. A big In/Out box…. which, If I remember correctly, doesn’t even support embedded SDI audio. Seriously? And it’s probably upwards of $20,000 🙂

Support for LUN’s greater than 2TB is great. Finally. Now to convince everyone to get their stuff off the SAN so we can reconfigure…..

yup… it’s kinda a cheat to get 24p material on a tape that can only run at 30fps.

After our project files get around 120 MB+ then it starts to slow WAY down on launch. Do what Tom suggest, and it should clean it up and get things peppy again.
