    Footage shot on DVX100 24PA. Digitized with the pulldown removal. Browser shows the video rate as 23.98 fps. When I load the clip into the Viewer and advance frame by frame, the TC goes to frame 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and then to 00. But when I pull a clip into a 24P sequence, the TC frame rate is accurate. It goes from frame 23 to 00…

    Can anyone help?

    because the media/frames still has an exact 30fps reference to the DV tape.

    After doing a little digging I found that when shooting in 24PA mode, the camera flags certain frames for removal. Specifically frame numbers 00 01 02 [03] 04 05 06 07 [08] 09 10 11 12 [13] 14 15 16 17 [18] 19 20 21 22 [23] 24 25 26 27 [28] 29. Then FCP removes those frames [the ones in brackets], which results in the removal of 6 frames per sec.

    30 – 6 = 24

    Go Figure…

    yup… it’s kinda a cheat to get 24p material on a tape that can only run at 30fps.
