    I’ve solved it, thanks!
    Changed two things:
My deck timecode IN was set to external and changing this to internal.
In the A/V Devices tab of the Audio/Video settings box, “Different Output for Edit to Tape/Print to Video” was checked and set to DV PAL, so I changed it to NTSC… then unchecked it anyway.
Now everything is working fine. Great!

Now I’m wondering Is it possible to output timecode from an FCP timeline to a DSR-11 via Firewire?

    Hi Tony,

Thanks for the suggestion. The Bosch unit is not exactly an elegant solution, I agree. It was devised by a consultant.

As I wrote, we’re recording multiple webcams via Skype. I’m sure there must be a better way.

    Thanks again for replying,

    Amanda

  • Yes, finally I did figure that one out!! Too late for the project I was working on, but I’ll know for next time!

Thanks so much, David, for your help and advice.

  • Thanks David. I tried that. I should have mentioned that my successful capture last week was MiniDV Pal – I’m in the UK.

The DVCAM tape I’m working with now is NTSC. I’ve changed the capture, firewire and sequence settings to NTSC but it keeps saying “no video”.

I tried a MiniDV Pal tape to see if it was the system at fault, but it worked perfectly. It’s just this NTSC tape that won’t work!
