International Cinematographers Guild Hosts Cine Gear Panels on Set Safety & Sustainable Film Productions
Live Sessions on Saturday, June 11th Los Angeles Convention Center
The International Cinematographers Guild (ICG, IATSE Local 600) is back at Cine Gear Expo, being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, for the first time since the pandemic. Their two panels will cover two important subjects in today’s entertainment world and beyond – safety and sustainability on sets.
The first panel, “Establishing a Culture of On-Set Safety,” to be held from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, will delve into the Local’s efforts to foster a culture of safety on set, highlight communications tools designed to build a broader awareness of some of the hazards on set, educate the entire community about options for working more safely, and discuss various ways in which the union and its members are expanding their efforts and initiatives. Panelists will be Rebecca Rhine, National Executive Director of ICG, and Patrick Cady, ASC, Director of Photography, with Michael Chambliss, ICG Production Technology Specialist and Business Representative as moderator.
The panel will include short videos designed to build a broader awareness of some of the hazards on the set and will encourage audience members to join the discussion.
The second panel, entitled “Sustainable Production: The Path to Net Zero Climate Impact” will be held from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and is organized by Local 600 and their Green Committee. Panelists will be Diana Pokorny, Producer and a member of the PGA Green Production Guide Task Force, Jendra Jarnagin, ICG Local 600 Director of Photography, and Adrienne Pfeiffer, Sustainable Production Supervisor for Lucas Film. Michael Chambliss will moderate.
The panel will discuss the impact of industry initiatives, emerging technologies, informational resources, and practical cost-effective steps that can be taken to guide the industry in a more sustainable direction.
