    Hey guys,

First post here – Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I’ve searched for an answer but can’t seem to find it!

Tomorrow I am shooting a few videos for a friends band, just half a dozen covers for them to use on social media and what not.

I have a Zoom H4n and Rode video mic pro, is my best option to use the video mic pro in the Zoom? I don’t have an XLR converter (does this matter?)

Alternatively, I could use the Video mic pro on on the camera, and have the zoom record separately and use the best version in post?

They are a live band, so they’re not necessarily after ‘studio’ quality, but I still want it to be the best I can get with what I have!

    Thanks in advance,

Hello Ben and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

You’ll probably have to use the pad switches on the Rode to keep from overloading the camera. Try a few test shots first and listen to them on a lap top with good headphones to make sure you’re not blowing out the audio.

You may or may not need to pad the zoom.

    Have fun.
