  • ZAX model shadow casting on 3D layers: HOW TO?

Posted by Paul Whishaw on September 6, 2005 at 6:23 pm

I have a Zax object that I have placed in a 3D composition. I want the Zax object to fall to a 3D layer meant to represent a floor. Now I am assuming I can’t make the Zax layer into a 3D object so it is always going to be “floating” in front of the floor instead of intersecting with it. So I want the Zax object to cast a shadow on the floor, gradually getting smaller as the Zax object falls.

Is there any way to sell this illusion? Otherwise it looks kind of cheesy. I have tried to create a 3D layer and set the Zax layr as a parent but the two objects don’t seem to want to associate. Seems like a silly limit so I am sure I just don’t know the proper trick. Once the object lands I want to set a shine layer behind it so beams of light come through negative space in my model. Am I asking the moon here?

Thanks in advance for your help.
