You’ve been given $5,000 for a mid-range corporate client to buy equipment.

They want to the foundation of an in-house video production studio to shoot short web/social media videos, trade show videos, and maybe a few commercials.

What do you buy RIGHT now, today, knowing what you know?

Budget friendly items, but not afraid to buy what you need and spend where it counts.

    (Not including the computer.)

    -Camera (4k? Stick with 1080?)
    -Lenses (Must haves)
    -Accessories
    -Tripods
    -Glidetrack? Which one?
    -Toys (Crane? Drone?)

    GO!!

Forget the slider and crane, you just need a good camera, tripod and microphone. You want lights too, but your budget is tiny.

Forget the toys. Ain’t enough budget here for that.

You also don’t have enough here for two cameras, which is probably a good idea to have.

For web, I wouldn’t worry about 4K. 1080 is more than sufficient.

So here goes, numbers mostly by memory:

    Sony X70 camera: $2000
    Tripod: $500
    Sennheiser G3 wireless lav: $600
Some kind of shotgun mike (I have an Audio Technica I like): $300. Maybe a boompole.
    Backdrops/seamless paper: $200
Use the remaining $1600 to buy as many lights as possible. Don’t forget c-stands and reflectors.
