youtube settings for ProRes 422 project
There are a bunch of recommendations online but i fear they are a few years old and youtube codecs are always changing i’m sure. My animation settings are messing with gamma, ProRes seems to produce much smaller file size and seems more accurate.
Is my game plan correct?From AE i’m gonna make a 1920×1080 ProRes 422 .mov (brought in ProRes from final cut so it makes sense)
Then in Compressor resize to 1280 x 720 .mov ( h.264 codec ).I shot and stayed in 24p the entire time and finishing in 24.

If you have Pro Res, you must have FCStudio, correct?
Compressor comes with an excellent Preset for YouTube.

Michael, I do have compressor.
But there are no “youtube presets” in Compressor.
Not sure what you mean.What’s the best codec for youtube??

What version of Compressor?
v 3.5 – Came with FCP 7 – has been out for about a year and a half, has a wizard that does it for you. Great results.
H.264 is fine for youtube. Use current frame rate, and I stay under 5000kbits/sec, but you may get away with less, or need more. Use AAC audio (320 kbps & 44.1Khz)
You may need to use a de-interlacing filter, as well.
This are the basics. Compression is part art, part science, so no “recipe” will give you 100% without trial and errors.

just got v3.5 but haven’t used it much. Very familiar with the old version though and don’t remember seeing any “youtube settings” in the old version. Unless you’re being sarcastic about youtube presets in compressor.

YouTube encoding and upload is mentioned in all of them. I’ve used it many, may times. It’s there.
