YouTube processing fails
I’ve just started using Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum V11 (my first Vegas). I’ve got my first project I want to distribute edited. It looks fine on my computer, previews fine, when I render it (various formats tried include Sony AVC 1280×720 30fps, Quicktime 3Mb) the file plays fine in appropriate local players.
When I upload them to YouTube, though, I get an error saying they failed to process the file. And it never becomes available for playing, it stays in the error state.
This happened even when I used the built-in YouTube upload function and left all the rendering at default settings for that.
I have gotten one or two short bits to work on YouTube; but my whole project is only 8 minutes, it’s not like I’m doing anything large enough that size should be an issue. Most short bits I tried (I quickly gave up working with the whole 8 minutes, render and upload and processing time are significant!) failed the same way, with a “could not process” message.
Any ideas? My original project is 1280×720 30fps, intended for Internet upload from the start.

David, I use Vegas Pro but I think your version of Movie Studio has the same options.
Try the Sony AVC mp4 Internet preset option and see if it’s any better.

Thanks. I’ve tried that template and settings, both on my full project and on shorter bits (when I realized I was going to be experimenting to try to get it working, I of course cut down to a minimal test case). And I get the “failed to process” message from it.
Well, at least you’re confirming that the template I’m choosing isn’t an obviously stupid choice; that’s good.
Have you actually uploaded anything rendered that way to YouTube lately? And would you be willing to look at the detailed settings if I screen capture those and upload them tomorrow? See if there’s a difference at that level? It’s also possible that, since I’ve been experimenting desperately for a few days, I may have changed something early on that I haven’t found to change back.

David, I wish I could help but I’ve never uploaded anything to YouTube.
My suggestion is to post this question on the other Vegas forum as there are a lot of users there who regularly post to YouTube without any problems at all.
