I just bought a yamaha audiogram6 (https://yamahasynth.com/products/audiogram/features.html) along with a condenser microphone for doing rough VO work just to give the talent some idea of the emphasis I want plus it helps me get the pacing down while i edit —anyway why do you care? 😉

I’ve tried running the takes using the VO tool in FCP as well as in Soundtrack where I can play with the EQs to make myself sound more like Johnny Fever, and less like Less Nessman—not that it’s any of your business, I do what I want! Uhhh!

Anyway, if I use my new setup in Soundtrack, import to FCP, when I get back to Soundtrack the audio I record sounds like I’m in a cave under ten feet of water being shocked by eels. It’s horrible. Even for my talent.—who are you to criticize my talent? My mom LOVES my work!

I’m wondering if it might be because the mixer gets it’s power through USB (and it has to power the mic too through phantom power—whooOOooo!) instead of having a dedicated power supply. I never installed the QBASE AI recording software since I have FCP, STP, Garageband & Quicktime as options already. While I do have other stuff that runs on USB, I’ve plugged the mixer into the back of the monitor rather than a hub. I know there are mixers that use FW-400 instead of USB, but my Sony DSR-11 (which runs to my monitor) doesn’t play nice with other stuff on the FW-400 channel. Your mom doesn’t play nice either!

Anyway. Thanks for your help. Not that I need it. I’m doing this for a friend. Not that I need friends. I’m my own man. Plus my mom’s basement is pretty small..soo..
