Yamaha 01x vs Tascam 1884

Searching through the archives I see some great discussions have been had about various audio control surfaces.

I’m replacing a Mackie 1642 used strictly for monitoring of sources and feeds Dorrough external audio meters. My replacement board needs this functionality as well as being able to act as a control surface for FCP and mild duty on Soundtrack Pro.

From reading of posts and looking at the product pages it looks like both the Yamaha 01x and the Tascam 1884 meet those specs.

Can anyone guide me as to which might work better, what differences I should be focusing on, or other products I should look at?
