Xvid wierdness: VV4 will render with it, but won’t recognize it
I want to edit clips from some .avi files for a class. It seems that those encoded in Xvid will not be recognized, “Video stream attributes could not be determined.”
The bizarre thing is that I tested VV’s ability to work with xvid by encoding a snippet in xvid with VV. The resulting file plays ok in Media Player. Yet when I try to load the same file back into VV it will not recognize the video stream. I’m stumped. Thanks for your assistance.

In looking around I already have “Ignore 3rd party DV codecs” unchecked.
I also have found that Divx 5 files are also not recognized, even though VV offers Divx 5.1.1 as an encoding option.
