Xvid rendering aspect ratio proroblem
Greetings! This is weird, I did not have this issue before. I am using sony vegas 12.
When I try to render to avi (xVid) (in my case, 1920×1080), the resulting video is very thin/squished (I do not know the actual resolution, but it’s something around 230×1080).https://i.imgur.com/Cy0tkKP.jpg
What’s more, if I open this file with MPC Classic and select the option “view->video frame->stretch to window” the video is now normal and in Full HD – however when I upload to youtube it is still squished.
Checklist:
1. The project properties are set to 1920×1080, pixel aspect 1.0
2. In Render As->customize template, pixel aspect is 1.0, and frame size is “use project settings” (I’ve also tried 1920×1080 but it made no difference)
3. disabling “maintain aspect ratio” on the video, and also enabling “stretch window to fit output size” didn’t helpI’m running out of ideas, pleas help!

Something in your workflow is NOT retaining the aspect ratio. Now, that’s either the render template and/or the CODEC you are employing.
Try this:
1/- Match your Settings to your media. Do you know how to do that?
2/- Use a plain vanilla Render template that you’ve used before.
BTW, have you downloaded any CODEC Pack?

Seems you simply need to go into the XVID customize settings during

Thanks guys you are awesome! the problem was indeed in the Xvid Settings
in customize template->Xvid Settings -> click “more” near profile@ level->aspect ratio
I clicked the “default” button (square 1:1), now works like a charm!!!!
