Xpress Pro 5.7
Posted by David Braswell on July 2, 2007 at 5:20 pmI understand that a few people (including me) have had problems getting 5.7 beyond the “Loading Setup” stage when Avid starts. Avid’s own forums were of limited help. Now that the update (read “massive bug fix”) has been out for a while, has anyone with the startup issue tried it?

July 3, 2007 at 4:54 amI had the same problem. Version 5.7 will sit for a long time before opening, made me crazy… 5.7.2 does not do this on my system, it starts up as before.

July 4, 2007 at 3:33 pmJust a confirmation for future board crawlers with same issue, 5.7.2 works. I had a strange audio error the first time out, but cycling through the mixer/EQ/suite interface cleared it up. Also, note the Nvidia driver update to 91.85.

July 6, 2007 at 1:24 amI had some problems before for the loading of xpress pro 5.7, just attached a video card and it worked fine.
Is there anything that the patch/upgrade resolve? The software takes some time to load up but i guess thats normal.
Does 5.7.2 come as a free patch or a paid set of upgrade?
If so, where can i get more info?
Thanks.

July 6, 2007 at 12:23 pmFrom 5.7, 5.7.2 is a $50 upgrade. It adds scrolling timeline and some other things. Visit this page for more info.

That’s wrong. From 5.5 to 5.7 it’s $50, but from 5.7 to 5.7.2 it’s free. 5.7.2 is a patch, not an upgrade. You can download it here:
https://www.avid.com/onlinesupport/downloadcpr.asp
Choose “I Accept” at the bottom of the page, then go to EDITOR_DNA_SOFT and choose XpressPro_5.7.2_PC_Mac and download.
Michael.
