Posted by Shaun on April 7, 2005 at 5:30 pm

    Hi all,

I’m trying to download the new HD patch from the Avid website, but after entering my system ID and the other details required, it takes me to the download page, and then on to the application specific sdownload page, and then nothing.

The only active link on the page is the “back-up” link. I can’t download the software. I have this problem on both the UK site and the .com site.

Anyone have any ideas as to whats going on. I’m using explorer v6, all the ID info is correct, nothing special.

    Many thanks,

    Shaun

    Hey there….

You should be able to download Xpress Pro HD 5.0 to 5.1.2 software and if that is what you are downloading, I would suspect your connection or your browser. I just checked it and it is working fine with my 6.0.28 version of IE. The only problems I have had were with Safari… but different platform.

Send me an email with your user name and password. I will have Chris check it. Also, if you have tried to download a few times, you prob. max’d out the web security so Chris will have to reset that.

    Send me an email…

    marianna_montague@avid.com

We will get you fixed up…

    Hi Marianna,

When you say “username and password”, which are you referring to? All the info I’ve been asked for is my full name, and my system ID.

I’d be happy to send you the details if you could just clarify what it is you require.

    Thank you for your assistance,

    Shaun

Yes… below is what I need from the download page.

    First Name: *
    Last Name: *
    System ID: *

NOTE: You can find the System ID on the tag attached to the purple USB dongle.

Did you check to see if you had refresh as a choice on the browser?

Let me know… and send me an email asap so I can catch the web team before they leave for the nite.

    Hiya,

I’ve replied to the mail you sent. No joy I’m afraid. I dont get it. I have absolutley no problems with any other sites at all.

You wouldn’t have any further ideas at all would you? Links on the final downlaod page in seperate panes are working, but nothing happens like, erm, downloading, or anything that says “to start download, click…”

    This is really odd.

    Me again,

OK, so I’m downloading it from another PC, using the same browser. It seems that my machine isn’t allowing the open, save, cancel dialogue box to display for osme reason. All the pop-up blockers are turned off. Could it be something to do with the something like java? Unfortunately I’m a totally ignorant of this sort of pronlem, so it’s a wild, and probably crazy, stab in the dark.

Thank you so much for trying to help.

Just to say I have always had a problem getting updates.

the only way I get in ot the download is to reregister after every update..

I don’t think it is a browser issue when I try on different computers.

Expecially with a valid dongle and registerd user name.

    wierd..
