Is anyone who uses FCPX 10.05 using it for sports or ENG work? I like it. No big issues. Its fast, but when it comes to logging I”m a bit frustrated by the XML export. IN FCP7 you could export XML as well as a marker list. Those marker lists could be opened in Text Edit. After I log in FCPX I’d like to export my logged favorites or highlighted clips then be able to print that log out or email it as an easily viewable file (pdf, word, rtf). I’ve exported my logs as XML files but no browser or text editor will display it in an easily viewable format. With Firefox and Safari I get the following message, “This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it.” Its very difficult to read. Does anyone have a third party program for Mac that can show xml files, but as cleanly arranged in an outline format or columns?

Unfortunately it’s the way it works with FCPX.

You can write an AppleScript to find markers in the XML and convert the times to TC.

thanks for responding. i’m not familiar at all with writing apple scripts. i’m wondering if there is a way for an applescript to display all the XML data in a basic outline layout that is easy to read, similar to the FCP7 marker list export. hmmm…more research. thanks again

Are you looking for something like this app? It takes a FCPXML and write out a text file containing all the markers as a list.
