XML uses Reel-name instead of clip names – is there a metadata option
I have a bunch of clips that a client brought in an XML, that don`t have any reel names embeded, but rather just have clip names. So in the EDL list of Resolve there is no name at all. Is there a way to tell Resolve to use the Clip names instead on those specific clips, or do I have to connect them all by hand.
Also, is there a function in Final Cut that might take care of it while making the export. I guess not every clip has a Reel in its Metadata. Not sure how that works.

you can manually add unique reel names in fcp to clips that dont have them (choose the reel column in your bin and sort to see what you have) and then re export xml. tedious…

Thanks, I tried deselecting the “assist using reel names” but that didn`t help.
I haven`t seen the format of an XML, but I would assume that FCP would include Reel name, but also a clip file name.
Of course your manual way is a good but time-consuming workaround. -
Yes please let’s have an option for clip name conform assist in Resolve. It’s fundamental, and can solve a lot of problems with badly formatted EDLs, funky formats, etc… that don’t necessarily do reel names properly.

Resolve v9 permits conforming with reel name from the path, the Media Pool folder name, embedded in the source file and the actual source file name. Please refer to the Master Project Settings/Conform Options.

Very true, and I’ve used this on a number of projects in the past.
I stopped using it in an early v9 (beta?) version because I couldn’t select multiple clips and have the clip attributes apply to all selected, but I see that works now – thanks for the reminder!
