    Hey, All,

I’ve got this crazy thing happening & wonder if it’s happened to any of you…

I’m working as an assistant on FCP 5.1.4. (please don’t tell me to upgrade. It is not an option mid-edit…FCP Studio 3 sits patiently in my drawer awaiting the completion of this gig). The editor is working on FCP 6. The editor sends me a timeline as an XML version 3. So far, so good.

When I import, I leave all the boxes checked: Override with settings from XML, Reconnect to Media Files, Include Markers, Include Audio/Video Effects.

Everything comes in OK, I reconnect all the media, but I’ve lost the audio mix, and I’ve lost all motion formatting on the stills (rotation, size, keyframing, etc.). The text is right in the titles, but the drop shadows and center positions are lost.

What’s crazy is that the editor sent me 3 reels, exported as a batch. Reel 1 loses all formatting, Reel 2 & 3 come in correctly.

We tried duplicating Reel 2, deleting all the clips, then copying the clips from Reel 1 into Reel 2–same problem occurs.

Has this happened to anyone else?

    Peace & respect,

    Joy E. Reed
