I installed the latest AE XML Project Importer.bundle into AE following our upgrade to M100 13.0.1. When I launch AE I get an error:

“After Effects error: Couldn’t find main enty point for AE_XML_Project_importer.bundle”

Installed the bundle in Adobe AfterEffects CS3->PlugIns->Format

Running AE 8.0.2 on Intel Mac. I did remove and switch back to the older importer and now everytime I try to load an XML AE crashes. I have trashed prefs.

    Ideas?

Hmmm, that works fine for me. Do you still have the older AE importer (the “Media 100 XML Project Importer”) installed somewhere? Maybe this causes a problem. But I am not really if that could cause your problem

    Floh,

No older importer installed, In fact, I wrote over the older one when I installed this one. So, you are using CS3, yes? This isn’t CS4 only. I am running AE on a separate box (intel 10.4.11, QT 7.4.1, AE 8.0.2)

Once AE launches after the error message, you just can’t read in XML files.

Maybe it is related to OSX10.4.11? V13.0.1 is pnly tested under 10.5.x, so maybe the importer also only works there. And yes, I’m using CS3 8.0.2.

I can find no documentation regarding the project importer, so I can’t verify if its only 10.5+ compatible. Does anyone know? Wick? Seems like that should be noted somewhere since once you upgrade to 13.0.1 you cannot export usable XML to a workstation that isn’t 10.5 or better…

I did a test on a 10.4.11 system with the AE XML importer component from V13.0.1, and it does not work on my system as well. So it seems like the new component is only working with 10.5.x. Most likely you could still use the older version with 10.4.11 and XMLs exported from V13.0.1, though.

    Floh,

Thanks for the response. My experience is that the older importer is not reading XML files exported out of 13.0.1. Every time I try to import an XML created with 13.0.1 AE just immediately crashes. Older XML files exported from M100 12.1.3 can be imported just fine.

Just to confirm, are you saying you are able to open XML files exported from 13.0.1 on a system running the older importer running under 10.4.11?

Thanks again for checking into this…its really got me stumped…and in a bad way if I can’t read new XML!
